Aretha Franklin is the second artiste illustrated for the Musical Icons series. “The Queen of Soul” as she came to be nicknamed, had a career that spanned the entire late 20th Century with hit songs such as the iconic “Respect”, “I Say a Little Prayer” and “Think”. This illustration makes use of an abstract gilded background to help indicate how precious she was not only as an artist, but also an active member of the civil rights community.
